Nitrux 3.5.0 “cx” released with software updates, performance boosts, and enhancements
Nitrux, the immutable and systemd-free Linux distribution, has released version 3.5.0, code-named “cx”. This update brings the latest software enhancements, bug fixes, and performance improvements, alongside ready-to-use hardware support.
Nitrux 3.5.0 is based on the Linux kernel 6.8.12 (Liquorix) and includes updates such as Firefox 126, KDE Plasma 5.27.11, KDE Frameworks 5.115.0, NVIDIA Linux x64 Display Driver 555.42.02, and more. Significant updates also include the Nitrux Update Tool System 2.1.4, AMD Open Source Driver for Vulkan v-2024.Q2.1, XWayland 24.1.0, MESA 3D Graphics Library 24.1.0, and Distrobox 1.7.2.1.
A new runlevel called “async” has been added to the OpenRC configuration, aiming to improve boot times by deferring the initialization of non-essential services. The Luv icon theme now features new and updated icons for CoreCtrl, the NVIDIA X11 settings application, and the screen configuration system tray item in the Plasma theme.
The updated zswap configuration now uses Z Standard (zstd) as the compression algorithm and zsmalloc as the memory pool allocator. Sysctl settings have also been refined for enhanced security and performance. Additionally, this release includes updated linux-firmware packages and restores the previously used powerlevel10k configuration with the “Lean” style for the ZSH shell.
