Firefox will add tab grouping, vertical tabs, and profile management in the coming months

Mozilla has recently unveiled upcoming updates and enhancements for their Firefox web browser, set to roll out over the next year. Key features include tab grouping, vertical tabs, and a sidebar, aimed at improving tab organization. A new profile management system will allow users to separate school, work, and personal browsing seamlessly.

Firefox will also introduce customizable new tab wallpapers, more intuitive privacy settings, and streamlined menus to reduce visual clutter and highlight top user actions. Performance improvements promise faster page loads and startup times, alongside better battery efficiency for mobile devices.

Additionally, Mozilla is working on AI-generated alt-text for images in PDFs, enhancing accessibility for visually impaired users and those with learning disabilities.

Mozilla Firefox is a highly-rated (4.4) web browser that stands out for its privacy focus, extensive customization options, and support for thousands of third-party add-ons. As a descendant of the Mozilla Application Suite, Firefox is free and open source. Top alternatives include Vivaldi, Waterfox, and Brave.

Nice to see Firefox implement vertical tabs, as it is currently possible to do in Firefox but hard to configure.

I'm using Sidetabs and wouldn't say there's anything hard about it. The only issue is it kind of breaks the sidebar.

Way late with these features, but at least they are coming. Really looking forward to them, and maybe it is a sign that Mozilla is finally going back to focusing on developing what the users want and need. About the AI, I understand that thanks to the horrible people and corporations leading the current trend many users are skeptical, but better accessibility for users with disabilities is probably one of the better uses that we can have right now, so long as it is privacy respecting I'm all for it.

I'm looking forward to seeing Firefox compete with Chromium-based browsers like Arc Browser.

I'm always excited for non-Chromium browser updates Firefox hasn't killed itself with limited extension updates targeting adblockers - and for that I'm grateful.

I'm excited for the improved tab organization. I'm not a big fan of AI, but I'm also glad they're trying to improve accessibility even if I wish they hired some more employees for that.
