BookStack 24.05 released with PHP 8.1 & Laravel 10, and brings several enhancements

Open source wiki software BookStack has announced the release of its version 24.05. This release primarily focuses on updating the core underlying framework and accompanying code. The core framework used by BookStack has been updated from Laravel 9 to Laravel 10, necessitating an increase in the minimum version of [PHP] BookStack supports from 8.0 to 8.1. This shift is aimed at maintaining modern and supported dependencies.

The PHP-based PDF renderer, wkhtmltopdf, has become somewhat deprecated and is being phased out of system repositories. Consequently, BookStack 24.05 introduces a generic command-based option, moving away from supporting a specific PDF renderer.

The update also includes new default link styles to enhance accessibility and expands support of the OIDC spec by utilizing the userinfo endpoint where necessary. A simple honeypot field has also been added to the registration to filter out the simplest spambots.

BookStack 24.05 now includes a list API endpoint for the audit log and supports an LDAP_TLS_CA_CERT option. This allows BookStack to use a specific CA certificate or a directory of multiple CA certificates.

The update also formalizes the process of recording and providing license and attribution information. In addition, it brings new and updated translations along with some bug fixes.
