Firefox 124 launches with enhanced Caret Browsing, improved tab sorting, and more
In a recent update, Mozilla Firefox has launched version 124, introducing a host of new features, enhancements, and crucial bug fixes.
One of the notable additions in Firefox 124 is the Caret Browsing mode, which now works in the PDF viewer. This mode brings a movable cursor to web pages, enhancing precision and accessibility for text selection and copying. It offers a more versatile tool for interacting with digital content.
In the new Firefox View, users can sort open tabs based on recent activity or tab order, with recent activity being the default setting. This feature introduces a more efficient way to navigate through multiple open tabs.
Firefox 124 has also improved the way it populates the Windows taskbar jump list, promising a smoother browsing experience for Windows users.
For Mac users, Firefox now utilizes the macOS full-screen API for all types of full-screen windows, aiming to align more closely with the expected macOS user experience for full-screen spaces, menubar, and the Dock.
Another update is the expansion of Qwant's availability. As of Firefox 124, users in France, Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland can access Qwant in all languages.
Firefox 124 also introduces support for AbortSignal.any and allows the use of HTTP(S) and relative URLs when creating WebSockets.
Lastly, Firefox 124 includes several security fixes and minor enhancements, further improving the user experience and maintaining the browser's robust security framework.
