Bluesky 1.7 update introduces #hashtags, new desktop homepage design, and other features
Bluesky, the social media platform, has released its version 1.7 only a week after launching federation. The key feature of this update is the introduction of #hashtags. Users can now incorporate hashtags in their posts and upon tapping a hashtag, a menu will appear with several options. These options include viewing all related posts to the hashtag, seeing all related posts from a specific user, and muting all posts that use the selected hashtag.
Bluesky 1.7 has also introduced the ability to mute specific words, including text, alt text, and hashtags. This version also allows users to share links and images to Bluesky directly from their mobile share menu.
In addition to these mobile updates, Bluesky 1.7 has unveiled a new desktop web home page. This design displays the user's current feed at the top of the page, mirroring the mobile interface.
The update also introduces compose intent URLs. This feature enables users to open Bluesky with the composer already open and prefilled with the text parameter (like X or Facebook).
Finally, Bluesky 1.7 has resolved a bug that caused posts to appear under incorrect users. This issue has been successfully fixed in this latest version.

Muting sounds great. One reason I have been hesitant to embrace Bluesky is the absolutely insane amount of political hot takes. Now I just need a prefabricated mute list with every possibly political term.
