RawTherapee 5.10 unveiled with many improvements, enhanced metadata handling, and more

RawTherapee, the cross-platform raw image processing program, has unveiled version 5.10, a significant update coming nearly 15 months after the release of version 5.9.

The latest version introduces the ability to add multiple custom external editors, with the chosen editor accessible in the Editor tab. Additionally, the Favorites tab can now be customized in Preferences, with a new option to display Favorite tools in their original locations.

In terms of metadata handling, RawTherapee 5.10 now employs Exiv2, with support for CR3 metadata. The software's Tone Equalizer, previously only available in Local Adjustments, can now also be found in the Exposure tab. This feature includes a new Pivot adjuster to shift the range of affected tones and the ability to display a tonal map for visualizing tones.

The update also recognizes ICC profiles in the user configuration directory. Furthermore, the color pickers in Film Negative now offer adjustable size.

Several tools have received improvements in this update. The Color Appearance & Lighting tool has been enhanced, as has the Abstract Profile in the Color Management tool, which now has a Gamut control option. The Lab Adjustments and Local Adjustments tools have seen improvements to the Avoid color shift option, and the Temperature correlation automatic white balance method in the White Balance tool has also been refined.

Finally, RawTherapee 5.10 expands its support for raw files from OM Digital Solutions cameras. The update also brings added or improved support for a variety of cameras, raw formats, and color profiles, along with numerous other changes, improvements, and bug fixes.
