Messaging app Viber introduces chat folders for enhanced conversation management

Well-known messaging app Viber, owned by Rakuten, has announced the introduction of chat folders. This new feature is designed to enhance communication management by allowing users to quickly locate specific conversations.

The chat folders feature provides users with the capability to create up to five custom folders, alongside an 'All' tab, which automatically incorporates all other chats. Users can customize folders for various categories such as work, friends, family, or favorites. The feature also allows chats to be assigned to multiple folders, with no restrictions on the number of chats that can be added.

This new feature is applicable to all one-on-one chats, group chats, channels, and communities. However, there are some exceptions. Hidden chats, messages from Viber Pay, businesses, and customer interactions cannot be included in these folders.

The rollout of chat folders is happening gradually on a global scale. It will be available to all users with Viber version 22.0 and above in the upcoming months. Users who have more than 10 chats will be introduced to the chat folders feature when they open the app.
