OpenShot 3.3 brings new default theme, enhanced ripple editing, & improved Wayland support
OpenShot has released version 3.3 of its free and open-source video editing software, introducing a range of new features and enhancements. The update unveils a new default theme — called Cosmic Dusk — aimed at providing a modern editing experience. Key improvements include enhanced ripple editing, an upgraded zoom slider, and multi-file drag and drop functionality, which streamlines the handling of large clip batches with improved snapping and faster operations.
The update also introduces a time-based recovery menu for seamless project recovery from auto-save files. Editing has been made more intuitive with the automatic opening of the properties dock when effects or keyframes are clicked. Users can now match project profiles to imported file formats, facilitating more streamlined workflows. Timeline precision has been enhanced with frame boundary support and alternating color bands for exact edits.
Version 3.3 addresses audio compatibility issues on Windows 11, corrects the color picker on Linux with Wayland, and includes several other minor enhancements and bug fixes. The update also focuses on performance, usability, and overall quality-of-life improvements.
