Brewer X 1.4 brings enhanced notifications & features for managing your Homebrew packages
Brewer X, the native macOS client for managing Homebrew packages and apps, has released its latest version 1.4. This update introduces several new features aimed at enhancing user experience and package management efficiency. One of the key additions is the push notification system, which provides detailed alerts whenever you install, upgrade, or uninstall an item. Users have the flexibility to enable or disable these notifications in the settings. Panini House, the company behind Brewer X, is also working on expanding this feature to include reminders for app upgrades and suggestions for scheduled maintenance.
The update also introduces a badge feature on the app icon, displaying the number of outdated items, allowing users to keep track of updates more conveniently. Additionally, users now have the option to hide installed items from the table within the app, though this does not affect their visibility on the Mac itself.
The View menu has been enhanced to allow users to prioritize the display of upgradable items, placing them above others for easier access. Furthermore, users can now choose to hide all script dependencies from the table, streamlining the interface. Version 1.4 also comes with a range of other improvements and bug fixes, further refining the overall functionality of Brewer X for its users.
