BookStack 24.12 brings new Portable ZIP export option, WYSIWYG editor improvements, & more

BookStack has rolled out version 24.12, bringing a host of enhancements and bug fixes to this platform for organizing and storing information. A key feature of this release is the new “Portable ZIP” export option, allowing users to export books, chapters, and pages into a compressed ZIP file. This file includes related data such as tags, attachments, and images, and can be imported back into BookStack instances. The import process provides an overview of the content and allows selection of the target parent location. To facilitate this, a new “Import content” role permission has been introduced, defaulting to admin-level roles.

The WYSIWYG editor introduced in the previous release, still in its alpha stage, has seen significant improvements including a responsive user interface, dark mode, and auto-linking for URLs. Additionally, enhancements have been made to existing API endpoints, and LDAP users can now utilize multiple attributes for a user’s name. Furthermore, the update also features various other enhancements, updated translations, and bug fixes, to improve usability and stability.
