Wine 9.22 has been released with display mode virtualization, Wayland by default, and more

The Wine team has released version 9.22 of its compatibility layer, which allows Windows applications to run on Linux, macOS, and BSD systems. This update introduces display mode virtualization, offering more flexible handling of multiple display configurations. Additionally, the locale dataset has been updated to align with Unicode CLDR 46, enhancing localization support across a wider range of languages and regions.

Version 9.22 also improves network session support in DirectPlay, benefiting users running older multiplayer games designed with this technology. The Wayland driver is now enabled by default, reflecting Wayland's growing use as a modern replacement for X11 and ensuring smoother application performance in Wayland environments. The release also includes various bug fixes as well.
