Rocky Linux 9.5 released with Podman 5.0, enhanced Cockpit, Node.js 22, and much more

Rocky Linux has announced the release of its latest version, 9.5, maintaining its commitment to being 100% bug-for-bug compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This release includes Podman 5.0, which brings enhancements like faster machine boot times, Podman Farm for multi-platform image building, and improved networking. The Cockpit web console now features file management through the Cockpit Files plugin, enhancing remote server management capabilities.

Version 9.5 also updates several software packages, such as Apache HTTP Server 2.4.62, Node.js 22, and GCC 11.5. Performance tools and debuggers have been upgraded, including GDB 14.2 and Valgrind 3.23.0, alongside performance monitoring tools like Performance Co-pilot 6.2.2 and Grafana 10.2.6. The release further includes updated compiler toolsets, featuring GCC Toolset 14 and Rust Toolset 1.79.0.

Additionally, Rocky Linux images are now built using OpenSUSE's KIWI appliance builder and the Rocky Linux Release Engineering toolkit, Empanadas.
