Mullvad Browser 14.0 brings Firefox Screenshots & PiP back and improves privacy & security
Mullvad has released version 14.0 of Mullvad Browser, its privacy-centric web browser developed in collaboration with the Tor Project. This latest version is built on Firefox ESR 128, integrating a year's worth of updates from Firefox. Notably, Mullvad Browser 14.0 reintroduces Firefox Screenshots and Picture-in-Picture functionality. Previously, the Firefox Screenshots' feature was disabled due to concerns about user identifiability, but it is now reinstated with a privacy-respecting implementation.
The update also involves the removal of the security levels button from the toolbar, as altering the security level can modify the browser fingerprint, which is not recommended. However, users can still access security levels through the settings menu. Additionally, Mullvad has completed its annual ESR transition audit, reviewing Firefox's changelog to identify and disable any patches that could compromise user privacy and security.
