Kali Linux to end 32-bit i386 architecture support, aligning with Linux Kernel 6.11 update

Kali Linux is phasing out support for the 32-bit i386 architecture, with significant changes starting this week. The i386 kernel and images, including the installer, live, and pre-built VM images, will no longer be created. This decision aligns with the recent update to Linux kernel version 6.11, which is no longer built for the i386 architecture. This change will affect the upcoming weekly images scheduled for release in 2024-W44 and the next major Kali Linux release, 2024.4, expected by the end of the year.

Despite these changes, i386 packages will remain in the repository, allowing users to run i386 programs on a 64-bit system. This is facilitated by using the command dpkg --add-architecture i386, enabling the installation of i386 packages via the package manager. Running i386 binaries on 64-bit systems continues to be a well-supported practice, even if the number of i386 packages should decline over time.
