Inkscape 1.4 released with new features, customization options & Affinity Designer support
Inkscape has launched its latest version, Inkscape 1.4, dubbed the Geek edition, with a strong focus on accessibility and customization. The development team has introduced new features, enhanced existing ones, and addressed bugs, all while preparing for the integration of GTK 4.
The update features an improved filter gallery dialog and new modular grids offering numerous parameters. The Swatches dialog has been refreshed, now featuring a drop-down menu with color palette previews, and improvements to the CMYK to RGB transition process.
Inkscape 1.4 also enhances the SVG font editor and provides a unified font browser preview. On-canvas handles are now customizable in terms of size, color, stroke width, outline, and opacity. The Shape Builder tool enables quick edits on raster images, facilitating the isolation of image sections.
The Objective Attributes and Object Properties dialogs have been merged, allowing users to modify object properties, such as rotations and corners, in one place. Additionally, users can now link pages within PDF documents.
The ability to open Affinity Designer files adds to the software's versatility. Inkscape 1.4 also introduces the Dash icon set, featuring over 500 icons, including cursors in scalable and symbolic versions, compatible with both light and dark themes.
