BookStack 24.10 released with a new alpha WYSIWYG editor, enhanced search, and more
BookStack, the open-source wiki software, has released version 24.10, featuring the initial alpha version of a new WYSIWYG editor. This development marks the beginning of a transition away from the TinyMCE-based editor due to licensing changes. The new editor aims to closely replicate the functionality and layout of its predecessor to provide a seamless upgrade path, though it currently has known omissions and issues. Users can enable this editor as the site default for new pages, or switch to it within the editor if permissions allow.
The update also enhances search capabilities by allowing users to negate exact, filter, and tag search terms using a - prefix. This feature enables more complex search scenarios. Additionally, BookStack now supports OpenSearch, allowing users to perform searches directly from the Firefox URL/search bar once added.
Version 24.10 introduces support for R and SAS as code block languages, enhancing syntax highlighting. The release also includes minor enhancements, updated translations, and bug fixes.
