Parrot Security 6.0: A powerful upgrade for security professionals and privacy enthusiasts

Parrot Security, a Linux distribution tailored to the needs of security professionals, developers, and privacy advocates, has recently launched its 6.0 version, loaded with several enhancements and new features. The latest version is founded on Debian 12 “Bookworm” and the Linux kernel 6.5, which includes extra patches for network sniffing and injection, thereby bolstering cybersecurity capabilities. It also promises improved performance and native support for the latest Intel and AMD CPUs.

The 6.0 version of Parrot Security introduces advanced Dynamic Kernel Module Support (DKMS) and Wi-Fi drivers, updated penetration testing tools, refreshed libraries, and Python 3.11. The system appearance has been updated, and there's experimental containerization for unsupported tools. Other noteworthy features include Grub fail-safe boot options and an enhanced Calamares installer.

In this update, Parrot Security has made PipeWire the default audio system, supplanting PulseAudio, for superior audio management. Additionally, VirtualBox has been backported and reintroduced from Debian Sid, improving virtualization support.
