KDE releases second Release Candidate for upcoming Plasma 6 Megarelease
Just two weeks after the first Release Candidate, KDE has released the second Release Candidate version of all the software that will be included in the upcoming KDE Plasma 6 Megarelease. This release comes as a precursor to KDE's Megarelease, which is now just one month away. At the end of February 2024, KDE plans to publish Plasma 6, Frameworks 6, and a new set of applications in a special edition of KDE Gear all at once.
Plasma 6 incorporates new technologies from Qt and other evolving tools. These innovations provide new features, improved support for the latest hardware, and compatibility with future hardware and software technologies. The adoption of these advancements signifies KDE's commitment to staying at the forefront of technological progress.
However, it's important to note that, similar to the Alpha and Beta versions, these release candidates are previews intended primarily for developers and testers. While the software provided is now deemed largely stable, it is not yet 100% safe for use in a production environment. KDE continues to recommend using stable versions of Plasma, Frameworks, and apps for your everyday work until the official megarelease. This approach ensures the highest level of stability and reliability for users while the final testing and refinement of the upcoming releases are completed.
