Oracle is bringing its database infrastructure to Microsoft Azure datacenters

Microsoft and Oracle have recently revealed a collaboration to house a section of Oracle's infrastructure within the Azure cloud. This unique offering, named Oracle Database@Azure, provides users with Oracle database services, which are deployed on Oracle hardware in Azure data centers.

According to the joint statement from Microsoft and Oracle, “Oracle Database@Azure delivers all the performance, scale, and workload availability advantages of Oracle Database on OCI with the security, flexibility, and best-in-class services of Microsoft Azure, including best-in-class AI services like Azure OpenAI.”

The partnership aims to offer clients enhanced flexibility concerning workload placement, and a consolidated environment that eases cloud procurement and management between Oracle Database and Azure services.

Upon its launch, Oracle Database@Azure will support an array of Oracle’s pre-existing database services, such as Oracle Exadata Database services, Oracle Autonomous Database services, and Oracle Real Application Clusters. The service also comes with a “joint support” guarantee from Oracle and Microsoft, pledging resolution for all mission-critical workloads.

Customers can purchase Oracle Database@Azure via the Azure Marketplace, and utilize their current Oracle Database license benefits.
