Kickstarter introduces new AI policy: no ban, but increased transparency required
Kickstarter recently announced a new policy concerning the use of AI in projects on its platform. The crowdfunding site clarified that it will not ban projects that incorporate AI, but will introduce measures to ensure they accurately disclose its use.
The policy, effective from August 29th, will not be applied retroactively to existing projects. Under the new regulation, creators must declare the use of AI and its application, and confirm they have consent from owners of works used to generate AI-based elements. Kickstarter will adopt a human moderation process to review project proposals.
To enhance transparency, a new "AI Usage" section will be added to project pages, displaying information provided by the creator.
