Git releases latest version 2.42 with reduced SHA-256 warnings

Git, the open source distributed version control system, has announced the release of its latest version 2.42. This new version, contributed to by over 78 developers, brings a host of enhancements to existing git commands and rectifies numerous bugs, including modifications to OpenSSL 3+.

A significant alteration in this release is the reduction of SHA-256 warnings. Developers have decided against making any disruptive changes regarding SHA-256 repositories, leading to the removal of warning messages such as “THIS VARIABLE IS EXPERIMENTAL!” In addition, the general SHA-256 object format message has been revised. While SHA-256 is not the default with Git currently, it is expected to be maintained compatibly in the future.
