Lemmy enjoys growth as developers pivot from Reddit amid API charging controversy

In the wake of recent controversy surrounding Reddit's new API charging policy, the decentralized and federated social platform, Lemmy, has seen a surge in growth. Numerous developers are pivoting, converting their third-party Reddit clients into Lemmy apps.

Lemmy has just launched its 0.18.1 version, featuring significant performance enhancements, particularly in the optimization of database queries. This update also addresses a cross-site scripting vulnerability and reintroduces captchas, as previously promised. A multitude of bug fixes and minor improvements are also included in this version, many of which were contributed by community members.

For those disenchanted by Reddit's recent policy changes, it may be worth exploring Lemmy and its various third-party clients for both desktop and mobile platforms.
