Google launches Nearby Share for Windows to streamline cross-platform file sharing

Google has officially launched Quick Share [Google] for Windows, following its beta announcement several months ago. The tool allows users to easily share files across various devices, including phones, tablets, Chromebooks, and Windows PCs.

The Windows version of Nearby Share promises enhanced performance and new features aimed at simplifying content sharing and boosting productivity. One such feature is the addition of an estimated time for file transfers to complete, aiding users in managing their sharing tasks efficiently. Google has also introduced an image preview within device notifications, enabling users to verify that the right file is being shared.

In an effort to further streamline the sharing process between Android devices and PCs, Google is collaborating with partners such as HP. The Nearby Share app will be included on select Windows PCs, enhancing the seamlessness of cross-platform file sharing.
