Bluesky revamps feed structure and replaces 'What's Hot' with new personalized 'Discover' feed

Bluesky is revamping its feed structure by replacing the existing What’s Hot feed with a new Discover feed. The Discover feed, as detailed in a recent Bluesky blog post, will offer a blend of personalized recommendations and trending content.

In May, Bluesky introduced custom feeds, a feature that allows users to choose their preferred feeds and enables developers to create new ones. This feature provides third-party developers with the opportunity to create and implement entirely new feeds that users can install.

The introduction of Discover is part of Bluesky's ongoing efforts to enhance the default experience. Unlike its predecessor, What’s Hot, the Discover feed will be tailored to user preferences, while still showcasing trending content across the network. As this feed evolves, it will become more complex, offering a global view of trending topics, posts from followed accounts, and posts from accounts within a user's social graph.

The new feed structure offers users the flexibility to unpin unwanted feeds and discover and install new feeds that align more closely with their interests. If a user is not satisfied with the Discover feed, it can be easily removed and replaced with another custom feed.
