ReactOS will focus on quality and finally publishes some news about its development status

ReactOS, the open-source operating system aiming to be totally compatible with Windows, has recently published an update on its newsletter after a couple of years without a post, explaining why last version released, 0.4.14, dates back to December 2021.

In the past, ReactOS used to release a new version every three months, with few changes, but the team has decided to change their approach and focus on quality, ensuring that each new version has a good amount of regressions and is stable.

ReactOS also provided an overview of the project's development status. Previously, the x64 version faced significant challenges during booting, but now it functions without major issues. The team also mentioned improvements made to Paint, Notepad, and the security subsystem, including the implementation of CmCheckRegistry, a function validates integrity of the registry and takes appropriate actions to repair any corrupted parts.

Furthermore, ReactOS has made progress in the Input Method Editor (IME) component, which facilitates the typing of characters. The latest update allows users to install custom IMEs for different locales, with specific testing conducted in Japanese language.
