Microsoft Booking mobile apps have been retired, they will stop working on July 15

Microsoft has announced that their Microsoft Bookings mobile apps will be retired from July 15th and users will lose access to the service on Android and iOS devices.

Microsoft Bookings, which debuted in March 2017, is a service dedicated to scheduling appointments and managing bookings. Its primary purpose is to assist small businesses in tracking, organizing, and overseeing their calendars and appointments. The tool permits the creation of an online booking page, enabling customers to view available time slots and make appointments. Integration with other Microsoft 365 services such as Teams and Outlook is also possible.

Earlier this year, in February, Microsoft removed the Bookings mobile apps from the App Store and Google Play Store. However, the apps have remained functional for existing users who had already installed them on their mobile devices.

In the meantime, Microsoft has introduced a mobile-friendly web version at https://book.ms to enable users to access the Bookings web page. The company also assured users that they will continue to enhance the web version, aiming to provide a consistent experience across desktop and mobile platforms.

Our take: Microsoft did not provide a specific reason for retiring the Bookings mobile apps, but it is presumed that the decision is driven by low usage. Meanwhile, the Bookings web client will remain available for both mobile and desktop users.
