Instagram is testing an AI chatbot feature for user conversations
Instagram is reportedly testing a new feature that would allow users to chat with AI within the app. Screenshots shared by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi on Twitter show that the feature is similar to Snapchat's My AI. The chatbot will be able to answer questions and give advice, and users may have as many as 30 AI personalities to choose from.
The feature will allow users to invite the AI chatbot to join conversations by @-ing its name in the chat. The AI chatbot will then be able to contribute to the conversation, answering questions or providing advice where necessary.
The introduction of the AI chatbot feature on Instagram is an interesting move, given that Snapchat's My AI has not really been well received. It remains to be seen whether the feature will become a useful tool for users or be quickly forgotten.
Instagram has not yet confirmed the testing of the feature, and it is unclear when, or if, it will be rolled out to all users. However, the screenshots shared by Paluzzi suggest that the feature is in its early stages of development.
Many social media platforms are increasingly turning to AI to enhance user experience and engagement. Instagram's AI chatbot feature is just one example of how the technology is being used in the social media space. As AI continues to evolve, it is likely that we will see more features like this being introduced across various platforms.
