Noodl shifts to open-core model, making web app development more accessible for everyone
Noodl, the next-generation low-code platform that enables users to design, build, and launch full-stack web applications, has announced a significant change in its business model. The company is transitioning to an open-core model, which means that everything users need to build, deploy, and host applications will be open source.
The move to an open-core model is a significant shift for Noodl, as it will allow users to access all the tools and resources they need to build and launch applications at no cost. While a commercial version of Noodl will still offer additional features, such as collaboration tools, version control, and optimizations for scaling applications, the open-source version will provide everything users need to get started.
According to Noodl, the company will continue to provide hosting services, and in the coming months, they'll introduce enterprise features to enhance the hosting experience for businesses and organizations. The move to an open-core model is expected to make Noodl more accessible to small and medium-sized businesses, as well as individual developers.
The first code releases of Noodl will be published in fall 2023, with the completion of the transition to an open-core model expected to happen in spring 2024. Once complete, Noodl will be available under open-source licenses, with additional features offered in the commercial version.
