Two new Material You widgets with the new version of Google Contacts

Google is rolling out two new Material You widgets for its Google Contacts app. The first is the “Individual Contact” homescreen widget, which shows a profile picture for a particular contact. When tapped, it will open that person’s full details page. If you make it bigger, you’ll get phone and messaging shortcuts. The elements of the widget also respond to Dynamic Color theming.

The second widget is the “Favorite Contacts” widget, which users can see with the new version of the app. This asks the user to select a Google or Device account to determine which starred contacts to pull in. Its design is tile-based and displays letters to show contacts.

These new widgets are available with version 4.5.24.x of Google Contacts.
