Snapchat on Android may get dark mode soon, but only for Snapchat+ subscribers

Dark mode has become increasingly popular in recent years, with many Android apps now offering this feature to their users. However, Snapchat has been one notable holdout in this regard, with its Android app lacking this option despite it being available on iOS since 2019. But it looks like things are finally changing.

According to Alessandro Paluzzi, a social media app researcher known for his Twitter posts about his findings, a new "App Appearance" section will be added to the next version of the Snapchat Android app. This section will include an "Always Dark" option, finally giving Android users the ability to use the popular feature. However it looks like that this option will only be available to paid subscribers of Snapchat+ !

Snapchat+ is a $4 subscription tier introduced in June 2022, which offers exclusive, experimental, and pre-release feature, and that’s why there is a strong possibility that the dark mode will eventually be released to the regular version after a trial period on the paid version of the app.
