Chrome 112 offers a new reading mode, Material You design, and security fixes
Google has released the latest version of its web browser, Google Chrome 112, just four weeks after the last update. The new update brings with it security fixes, optimizations and improvements, as well as some experimental features.
Google has patched 16 security flaws in the update and is offering the download progressively to users on Windows, Mac, and Linux in the coming hours and days.
For the average user, the most exciting new feature is a reading mode, though it is still an experimental feature and is disabled by default. To take advantage of it, users must go to chrome://flags/#read-anything and turn on the Read Anything option. This feature should be available more officially in Chrome 114.
Google is also using Chrome 112 to prepare for its major interface overhaul of the browser, which will take over the codes of Android's Material You later this year. Users can preview the first changes by activating the flag chrome://flags/#chrome-refresh-2023, though the changes are still very slight.
