Audacity 3.3: New Shelf Filter effect and real-time capable effects for audio editing
Audacity, the popular audio editing software, has released its latest version, 3.3, bringing new features and improvements to its users. The update includes a new Shelf Filter effect, which allows users to adjust the frequency response of their audio, as well as an initial (beta) version of Beats and Bars, which makes it easier to work with rhythm and timing.
One of the most significant improvements in this update is that some of the built-in effects are now real-time capable. This means that users can preview the effects in real-time as they adjust the settings, rather than having to apply the effect and then listen to the result. The effects that are now real-time capable include Bass & Treble, Distortion, Phaser, Reverb, and Wahwah.
Other improvements in Audacity 3.3 include a reworked bottom toolbar dock, which makes it easier to access frequently used tools and settings, and an improved Zooming behavior, which makes it easier to zoom in and out of the waveform. The update also includes support for FFmpeg 6, which enables users to import and export a wider range of audio and video formats.
Audacity is a free, open-source software that is used by musicians, podcasters, and other audio professionals around the world. The software is known for its ease of use and powerful features, and the latest update is sure to be welcomed by users who rely on it for their audio editing needs.
