Mozilla extends Firefox support on Windows 7 and 8.1 for one more year

Mozilla has announced that it will extend Firefox support on Windows 7 and 8.1, while Microsoft has officially ended support for these versions of Windows since January 2023. This news comes as a surprise to many, as Google and Microsoft have already ended support for Chrome and Edge on Windows 7 and 8.1.

Mozilla employee Mike Kaply revealed that Firefox 115 ESR, due to arrive on July 4, 2023, will be available on Windows 7 and 8.1. This means that Firefox users will be able to continue using the browser after support for these versions of Windows ends.

Mozilla is the only major browser provider that has committed to extending support for Windows 7 and 8.1 after January 2023. This could be a major advantage for Firefox users, as they will be able to continue using the browser even after Microsoft ended support for these versions of Windows.
