Proton launches new desktop app for Mail and Calendar, with Linux version coming in 2024

Proton has unveiled a new Proton Mail desktop app, enabling users to access Proton Mail and Proton Calendar directly from their desktop. Currently, the beta version of this desktop app is exclusive to users with a Visionary plan due to capacity limitations. However, Proton is set to broaden the beta access to all Proton Mail users in early 2024.

Being in the beta phase, the Proton Mail desktop app does not yet support all the features available on the web app. However, Proton has future plans to incorporate additional features such as offline access, account switching, notification badges, and more.

The Proton Mail desktop app is presently compatible with macOS and Windows. Proton is also developing a Linux version of the app, which is slated for release in early 2024.
