Enlightenment rolls out 0.26 version with new features and fixes for Linux and BSD
Enlightenment, the window manager and streamlined desktop environment for Linux and BSD, has recently rolled out its 0.26 version, more than two years after its previous 0.25 release. This latest version comes equipped with a multitude of fixes and new features.
Among the changes, the 0.26 version introduces a DDC option to backlight settings, larger task previews, and a watermark in wl mode to signal that E is in experimental wl mode. It also supports the new eet disk sync API to ensure the configuration is stored properly.
The new version includes support for action desktop files in EFM to add file actions, and it has added org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver inhibit support. Moreover, it now supports logind's lock/unlock dbus APIs.
A watchdog thread, which is now enabled by default, has been added to detect mainloop hangs. The version also introduces an API to play sound samples and provides support in notifications.
The 0.26 version also adds an option to Randr X11 support to use xrandr cmdline instead of the direct API. It is more aggressive about enforcing E's blank settings if apps try to override them.
Additional changes include parameters to mixer actions to allow setting the amount up/down, an option for input settings for flat accel + hires scrolling, and an option to set the hidden state in netwm or not.
