Darktable 4.6 released with new features and improved performance for photographers
Darktable, the professional photography software, has launched its version 4.6, introducing a multitude of enhancements, new features, and bug fixes.
A key feature in this update is the auto-save function during image editing in the darkroom view. Editing history is now periodically saved, with the interval being adjustable or the feature can be completely disabled.
The software now includes a new processing module named RGB primaries. This addition facilitates subtle color corrections and creative color grading, allowing the adjustment of red, green, and blue primary colors via “hue” and “purity” controls.
Moreover, the sigmoid module now incorporates a new primaries section, useful for managing challenging lighting conditions and refining the overall image aesthetics.
Changes have also been made to the liquify and retouch modules, which now display the full uncropped image, indicating any crop with an overlaid rectangle.
Improvements have been made to the panning/zooming functionality in the darkroom view. Instead of a low-res placeholder, the previously visible parts of the image are now immediately displayed in high quality, with the remaining image temporarily in low resolution until fully rendered.
Darktable 4.6 also boasts enhanced performance, with faster image display and export speeds, a quicker chromatic aberrations' module, alongside other changes and bug fixes.
