HandBrake 1.7 released with AMD VCN AV1 and NVIDIA NVENC AV1 encoders, and more

Open-source video transcoder, HandBrake, has launched its latest version, 1.7, packed with new features, enhancements, and bug fixes. This update includes the addition of AMD VCN AV1 and NVIDIA NVENC AV1 encoders.

HandBrake 1.7 also introduces Apple VideoToolbox hardware presets, SVT-AV1 multi-pass ABR mode, QSV Rotate and Format filters, along with support for preserving ambient viewing environment metadata. Moreover, this version sees improved performance on arm64/aarch64/Apple Silicon architectures.

The new version brings significant enhancements in video conversion speed, Dolby Vision dynamic range metadata pass through, HDR10+ dynamic range metadata pass through, and QSV support on Linux.

A notable addition for Linux users in HandBrake 1.7 is the option to pause encoding when switching to battery power or when power save mode is activated.

The latest version also incorporates several other features, platform-specific enhancements, and numerous bug fixes.
