Foliate 3.0 has been ported to GTK4 and comes with many new features and enhancements

Foliate, the well-known e-book reader favored by Linux users, has recently launched its 3.0 version. The latest rendition of Foliate has been entirely rewritten, utilizing cutting-edge platform libraries such as GTK 4 and Adwaita. This has resulted in a revamped interface and enhanced performance.

The new version also sees Foliate moving away from Epub.js and KindleUnpack, as it now has its own e-book parser and renderer. However, due to time constraints, some features could not be ported to the new version. The most significant of these is the lack of support for OPDS catalogs and offline dictionaries.

Foliate 3.0 has also introduced a unified window for the library and the e-book viewer. Additionally, features such as the table of contents, annotations, and bookmarks are now conveniently located in a sidebar.

Improvements have also been made in terms of startup time and memory usage. Beyond these enhancements, Foliate 3.0 encompasses a range of other features, changes, and bug fixes, further cementing its position as a key tool for Linux users' e-book reading needs.
