Google enhances Search and Lens with AI-powered learning tools for STEM subjects
Google has announced new updates to Google Search and Google Lens, aimed at assisting learners with complex problems. The enhancements are powered by Google's advancements in large language models (LLMs).
The new AI-powered features across Search and Lens allow users to visualize STEM-related concepts and intuitively determine the appropriate equation to use. This is achieved by browsing for the equations in a more user-friendly manner.
Google Search now offers more extensive help on subjects like trigonometry and calculus. Users can input their equation or integral into the Search bar or capture it with Lens to receive a detailed explanation and solution. Additionally, typing “math solver” into the search bar will initiate the new feature on desktop, with mobile access expected soon.
Google Lens can now be utilized for certain geometry problems. It interprets both the visual and text components of the problem and generates a step-by-step guide on how to solve it.
Furthermore, Google Search now includes 3D models that allow users to explore interactive diagrams. These diagrams contain definitions and overviews for nearly 1,000 topics related to biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy and more.
