Element unveils Secure Border Gateway for enhanced data security and control
Element, the messaging app renowned for its use of the Matrix protocol, has unveiled its latest offering – Secure Border Gateway for Matrix (SBG). This add-on for the Element Server Suite amplifies data security with its robust capabilities.
The SBG is a multifaceted software component designed to add an additional layer of security and control to Matrix networks. It is also functional within airgapped networks. The SBG offers two primary capabilities: the enforcement of a private federation of servers and the enforcement of client header parameters.
The private federation enforcement ensures that home servers outside of the designated private federation are unable to exchange data with servers within the federation. The client header parameter enforcement allows the SBG to scrutinize incoming HTTP headers to the home server, rejecting any traffic that doesn't match a customer-specified header value.
The Secure Border Gateway's functions extend to protecting your network, controlling access, meeting compliance requirements, enhancing performance, and tailoring spending. SBGs, with their capacity to boost network security, enforce access controls, meet compliance mandates, and improve performance, are a multipurpose resource for organizations of all sizes seeking top-tier security.
