Code editor Geany celebrates 18th anniversary with release of version 2.0
Geany, the robust and lightweight programmer's text editor, recently celebrated its 18th birthday and released version 2.0. The new iteration introduces a split in “session data” into session.conf, and requires GTK 3.24. It also incorporates Scintilla 5.3.7 and Lexilla 5.2.7, offering advanced editing capabilities.
The latest Geany version streamlines the process of project creation from existing directories with sources. It adopts the “Prof-Gnome” GTK theme as the default on Windows, enhancing user experience. However, users still have the option to activate the “Adwaita” theme.
Additionally, Geany 2.0 allows syncing of many parsers from the Universal Ctags project, resulting in updated symbol parsers. The new release also adds new file types, updates existing ones, and brings refreshed translations and bug fixes.
