BookStack 23.10 released with enhanced user self-management and refreshed editor design

BookStack, the straightforward, self-hosted platform for organizing and storing information, has recently released its 23.10 version. This new update brings a significant overhaul of user self-management along with a refreshed editor design, among other enhancements and additions.

A key feature of the update is the introduction of a central “My Account” area, accessible through the header user dropdown menu. This area amalgamates the pre-existing preference views with user-specific “Profile Details” and “Access & Security” views, centralizing all user self-management in one tidy area.

The updated design aligns more closely with the page display view, reducing the abruptness when switching between viewing and editing. The editor sidebar toolbox is now more noticeable. Despite these design changes, the usability and access to existing options remain intact. On the smallest mobile sizes, there is actually an increase in editing space.

The 23.10 version of BookStack also ushers in basic PWA (Progressive Web App) functionality through the incorporation of a PWA manifest endpoint. Alongside these additions, the update includes numerous other new features, improvements, and bug fixes.
