Discord will now roll out updates to both Android and iOS simultaneously
Discord's Android version has been overhauled so that updates for it will be deployed at the same time as its iOS and desktop versions.
The official blog announcement for this milestone details that the Android version of the popular voice, video, and text chat service is now built on React Native. This will allow for the Android app not only to maintain release parity with the iOS and desktop apps, but also to maintain Android specific design elements such as increased text size.
With this transition, Discord clients for mobile are now consistently built using React Native. The goal of this is to "streamline and consolidate our processes, which helps our engineers work more efficiently and push out updates more frequently."
The rollout for the new React Native version of Discord for Android has been ongoing for a few weeks and will continue until everyone worldwide has it. It can be downloaded via the Google Play Store.
