Plex has officially received a makeover with new customization options and podcast support.

In a post on the official Plex blog, the media center app's development team announced that a slew of new features have accompanied the app's redesign, the most prominent of which is official support for podcast integration.

Podcast support is now available in a beta form for the web version of Small Plex iconPlex as well as its iOS, Android, and Roku apps. Other platforms will receive support for it at an unannounced time.

In addition to podcast support, Plex is also implementing a completely customizable home screen, as well as a row of icons on the footer of the smartphone that act as tabs to separate the different types of media that Plex supports. These icons can also be rearranged and customized.

The mobile and web apps for the media center software are also receiving an enhanced content player that enables users to utilize variable speed playback and quickly skip back and forth.

Finally, the post teased features coming in the future, including the ability to import Outline Processor Markup Language files for playlists and frameworks for users' content collections and the ability to play back podcasts offline on the iOS and Android versions of Plex.
