In a blog post on SketckBook's website, Colin Smith, SketchBook's Senior Product Manager, announced that Autodesk's raster graphics editor software will now be free to download and install for everyone. This includes SketchBook for macOS and Windows as well as for iOS and Android.
Smith cites the reason for this move in the previously mentioned blog post as a realization by Autodesk that "access to fast and powerful sketching tools is an invaluable part of any creative process" whenever a burst of creativity might strike.
According to an FAQ post on Autodesk SketchBook's forums, subscribers before April 30th, 2018 will no longer have their subscriptions renewed. In addition, it was stated that development on SketchBook will continue "with a focus on adding functionality to enable designers, architects, and animators to capture conceptual art and designs."
Autodesk SketchBook can be downloaded directly from SketchBook.com, as well as from its corresponding pages on the Apple App Store for iOS, the Google Play store, the Mac App Store, and the Microsoft Store.
