Monument Valley now has a sequel
The massively successful puzzle game that inspired a new genre of adventure-puzzlers has received a sequel for iOS. Announced during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, Monument Valley 2 is out now with an all new story so newcomers can feel right at home without having played the original. This time, it follows a mother and daughter through a world of hand-crafted illusions and puzzling architecture with immersive ambience and music in the vein of the first game.
The sequel is the latest from development company Ustwo Games and marks a welcome return after their popular Gear VR title Land's End which features similarly soothing aesthetics brought to the virtual realm. It made our list of outstanding VR titles, This Year in VR. Altogether, these titles represent immersive, trademark experiences of this brilliant design company.
As of now, the sequel is an iOS exclusive. The original was an iOS exclusive as well when it was released back in April of 2014. A Windows Phone version followed within a couple weeks, then an Android version a couple weeks after that. Hopefully, we'll see a similar or sooner timeline for the new game's platform launches.
