I don't like AI that much but it feels like the world can't live without anymore. A big concern of me is that Big Tech is getting a lot of data of you by talking to these chatbots (LLMs). In this list there are LLMs that are online but also apps that can operate offline for better privacy.
The most private way of using AI: use it offline! On this website it doesn't give their country of origin. However on the website of PocketPal they say it is based in Germany, so you're fine. :)
(Turkey is not fully European) This app lets you install small, language models on your phone and is an alternative for PocketPal.
I ranked it from best to worst privacy in my opinion.
By the way, they are all in a way reliant on Le Chat from the France tech company Mistral.
Like on Duck.ai, you can chat whit various models but the big difference is that the servers of the AI-models are all hosted in Europe (yes you can chat with Gemini but the servers are in Europe and follow Europeans GDPR). Another big difference is that it has zero data retention and no server-side storage which means that there is no data stored anywhere but your device. It makes xPrivo more minimal: no cross-device sync and no backups but that makes it very private.
This cat wants to help you and promises you to not look at what you ask her by 'trying' to make your input end-to-end encrypted.
Not privacy focused so be careful what you 'say to it'. (You can make it more private by using it via duck.ai, the AI chat of duckduckgo which is NOT European.) Still Europe must be proud of making such an advanced LLM that really competes against the big ones. Le Chat makes himself stand out by being extremely fast in responses.
The order from less to more privacy: online LLMs like Lumo < offline, locally on your device < NO AI: just use a search engine without AI like Startpage, Mojeek,... < NO internet: go to your closest library and READ A BOOK or ask someone for hulp, AI is NOT a therapist!
