PDF-XChange Viewer Comments

Fast+Versatile

Positive Comment by berlioz
about PDF-XChange Viewer and Nitro Reader, Foxit Reader, Sumatra PDF Apr 2012

i've tried foxit, sumatra and nitro.
Foxit is for years standard on my desktop, because it's fast.
For studying i needed the notation function, where nitro was best so far, but handling a bunch of large (scanned) Pdfs it was fugly slow. Pdf exchange is fast here and it's ocr function is astonishing and better then everything i've seen so far!
new standard :D

The most powerful basic viewer/editor

about PDF-XChange Viewer Jun 2011

The most powerful basic viewer/editor; features that give it a great advantage over similar products: permanently rotating pages, and the typewriter tool. Older versions couldn't change document background, now that this can be done, this is my default software for .pdf files.

For me PDF-XChange Viewer is the best

about PDF-XChange Viewer Jun 2011

For me PDF-XChange Viewer is the best. I tried too Foxit, Sumatra, Nitro,... But when I had downloaded PDF-XC I dropped them. I found all necessary features in PDF-XChange and it works all time very fast. Every time I discover new and new features. For example, yesterday I learned a lot of new things about using Customize Toolbars. It's really very easy to modify. And that all is in Free version

Got tired of Adobe Reader (too slow!), then branched out to Sumatra. Sumatra was fast, but didn't seem to have many features. I wanted a good reader that also would allow me to make annotations. Foxit was... ok, but I remember being much more satisfied with XChange. Also like the ability to add bookmarks in nested trees.

However, after my previous post I found out that as of version 4 Foxit Reader has no longer any limitations such as the mentioned watermark when filling forms with the Typewriter tool - there is no longer a paid version of Foxit Reader (Foxit Reader Pro).
Foxit PDF Editor (commercial) is still available and offers extended PDF editing features.
Just like the commercial 'Pro' version of PDF XChange Viewer.

PDF XChange Viewer is much more than just a 'viewer'. This one is great for filling forms with the Typewriter feature, which is also available in the free version without any watermarks being added (which is what Foxit does). PDF XChange Viewer even allows removing/deleting watermarks added by other application cough

Of course most other editing features are only available in the commercial 'Pro' version.

It's an excellent PDF viewer, lightweight and with highly customizable menus. But the main reason I like PDF XChange is the automatic creation of thumbnails in Explorer, a feature that's bugged on 64bit Windows systems with Adobe Reader (although there's a user-created fix), and missing entirely from my previous favorite PDF viewer Foxit (it's been on their to-do list for 4 years.)

I was a foxit user, but found that PDF XChange viewer gives a fuller set of editing options. I generally use it to make highlights and comments on PDF files.
