Zenkit Reviews

Really powerful!

At first I thought it looked a little simple but after using it for a while I was really surprised by the power of the features. I’ve started using it to organize pretty much everything but really wish it was easier to undo actions (like accidentally deleting something).

flexible & easy!

I love Zenkit for how flexible it is – it’s really easy to switch between different tools and the lists in Kanban. Also really appreciate the custom fields so I can track literally anything – I use it for personal work and in the office.
The only issue is that it’s not mobile yet, so you have to use it on a computer. Would be nice to have a mobile app.

I like the versatility of Zenkit - this great tool lets you decide how you want to use it - it offers a lot of different views (like kanban, calendar or even a mindmap) that can be enriched with custom filters to see just the information that you need. Furthermore you have the ability to create your own fields in each item by creating references to any other Zenkit-Collection of yours - very handy.

Zenkit is great for collaborating with teammates in a professional setting. It also makes scheduling and assigning tasks accessible in a non-personal setting

My favorite aspect of Zenkit is just how accessible it is and flexible for any of my needs. Not only does it work well for more professional needs, but it allows me to plan simple things, such as a family trip.

Makes project management of the college team I lead quite easy. I particularly like the customization of the interface, as you can switch easily between views until you find the one that is intuitive to you. I really like the Kanban view, and being able to add custom fields to each task is incredibly helpful for a wide variety of projects!

First of all, it is free.

I love the fact that it can be viewed any multiple views (Kanban, table, list, mind map). There are some product management programs out there that let you view in multiple views but once you choose a view you cannot look at another view. I like that it offers multiple views so depending who is viewing it can choose the option that best suits them. I personally love Kanban & Calendar while I know others that love List & Table. I don't have to enter the data into a Document for them. They simply click the List View & Bam they have it. If there is too much info for their list they can hide the columns that aren't needed.

I also like the fact that their add ons are free (except the e-mail that sends it in a note form. Hopefully, this will be included free at some point. Hint. Hint). There are some apps out there that use Kanban but will only let you use 1 add on then you have to pay. Any of Zenkits add ons that are offered can be used at the same time if you so choose. I personally like the Calendar option, Favourite Tags, etc

There are some things that need improving. Example. Calendar you cannot repeat tasks. The mind map is only 2 dimensional (which is limiting) instead of 3 dimensional like the Brain. However, having said that, they are constantly improving things & taking suggestions into consideration. Every time I suggest something (there were issues in the lay out of printing that they are looking in to) they personally contact me via e-mail. Not an automated response. Then we talk back & forth until they are sure they know what I am looking for.

You can add pics, links, attachments, etc like most apps let you do. They have it where you can directly attach things via Google Drive & Drop Box. Hopefully they will add Evernote as an option to save a step (It is not a big deal as I simply use the Share Link & paste it into their link option). To my knowledge they don't have audio at the moment but for me I do not require that so it's not an issue for me ( I could be wrong, though. Since I don't need that feature I haven't looked into it)

One of their greatest strengths is you can customize it the way you want to. If you want 5 link boxes you can. Want reminders, text, formulas, etc. No problem. Most competitors won't let you do that & when they do it is limited or costs money. One of the greatest features they have is References where you can keep a link to the same note that you have already created in the program

If you like Kanban like I do one feature you should be aware of that isn't really talked about is that you can choose how it is organized. By default it is organized Horizontally (which is how most Kanbans I have seen out there are organized). However, the Vertical option is a game changer. I ran into it by accident & then I was like WOW. This feature lets you create categories via your tags. Example. You might have tags that are priority, medium & whenever. Instead of reading each note individually you can create the Vertical option & allow priorites are grouped together.

What applications can it be used for? I am sure you can figure out the applications for product management but I will walk you through personal. I use it for everything digital related. Need to schedule something? Calendar (yes, you can use Google Calendar so if someone else doesn't use Zenkit you can use it & they get their info via Google Calendar. A win win.) I use it for my schooling as well. I use Evernote for my notes but find it is too clustered. I don't want note after note. So I use the Zenkit to organize it via Kanban & refernces. I use their check lists to make sure I am aware of things needing to get done (once you click it you can set it up so that the item disappears so that you can focus on what needs to get done). You can add a pic to it so if you are visual you will see the pic from the hop. Zenkit has a text option but I find it is best suited for small notes but I use Evernote for more detailed notes. Once I am done with a note I click it & bam it is in the Done List. No, I didn't drag & drop it. Zenkit did it for me.

Sounds like it might work with Getting Things Done list? It does. I personally use the Eisenhowser Matrix approach with Zenkit. I didn't like their template (yes, they have templates) so I made my own. Zenkit is all about customization after all.

I use it for schooling, grocery lists, chores, Honey Do List, etc. I am sure you can apply the same to yourself. The fact that you can assign to Family members & comment allows us to get rid of the fridge & magnet method since they have the mobile version as well.

I cannot say enough good things about it. Give it a try. Its better than the other Kanban options out there unless you like someone telling you what features you can get or like paying every month to have a feature that shouldn't cost money.

Cheers

Easy to use, very intuitive, a lot of useful features (especially the possibility of cross-referencing between Boards). I use it already for a year now, very content.

Powerful tool to coordinate tasks and to keep an overview of what is important. Gets better with each update. Sometimes still a bit slow.
