WARNING: This app will lose your data.
(OVERVIEW REVIEW)
..............................................................................................................................
Despite it's ample potential, dollar for dollar this is the worst program I've ever used.
Worst thing: it loses data:

I once lost ALL of my cards ("blocks"). The text in amost every 'block' was lost, and the headings replaced with the generic numbers the program assigns before you write a heading
It DOESNT HAVE UNDO for things like DELETE - unbelievably
I've lost data in numerous other ways using the program
..............................................................................................................................
The app is difficult to use.
It's not intuitive.
You have to really hunt down processes on the ribbon.
Two examples:
You have to create a new block using CTRL-A (Not control N mind you)...Yet it would be alot easier to double-click on the canvass
To expand a block to edit it, you have to go to the ribbon. Why not just double-tap on the block?
..............................................................................................................................
The developer is not responsive to feedback.
This may be the root of the problem.
When I pointed out some bugs, they said in essence: "If you don't like it, we can just refund you"
..............................................................................................................................
There are other bugs. It often doesn't do what you would expect from a particular feature.
Just one example: AUTO-ARRANGE blocks.
When you write in a new block, it will expand and cover the block below it.
You would think that AUTO-ARRANGE means that when you've FINISHED, the blocks would automatically arrange themselves, moving both blocks out of the way of each other.
But no, the block just sits there, covering the other block. You have to manually hit an 'arrange' button!
Since it can clearly DO that, why not automatically do it when you finish with that block?
This is just one of at least a dozen things I encountered that are either flat-out bugs or features just not operating in the way you'd expect.
..............................................................................................................................
Worst of all: despite all this, the app is very expensive. At $150, I expect a Rolls Royce, not a Bentley without a seat-belt that breaks down all the time.
Wouldn't developers be better off starting with a humble price until they've ironed out bugs?
By charging a high price from the start, you just create anger - and bad reviews!

SEE COMMENTS for a long list of problems, which I will try to regularly update.

DETAILED LIST OF BUGS and DISAPPOINTMENTS
(For overview, see my actual review).

TOP PROBLEMS mentioned in review:

  • Loses data: I once lost all the text and headings of most of my blocks for no good reason
  • NO UNDO: including major things like DELETE BLOCK, transpose, and change from columns to rows. WHAT?!
  • I also lost data at other times in smaller losses (can't remember cos I stopped using app)

BUGS

  • Creates new blocks with inconsistent sizes
  • You can't copy-and-repeat-paste in footnotes (unlike any other WP app)
  • Doesnt remember size of special editing window after close
  • Takes up many windows on the taskbar (eg. five) when only working on one document
  • It will create a block with the wrong internal font for the chosen style, then wont even format it to the style when you do it manually

DISAPPOINTMENTS / BUGS

  • Auto-arrange doesn't really work. When you write in a block, it starts to cover the block beneath it. Even when you're done, it just sits there covering it. You have to actually hit ARRANGE to move blocks out of the way of each other. Why doesn't that happen "AUTOMATICALLY"?
    .
~ ALSO: After you show/hide footnotes, everything gets messed up:
[.] the blocks cover each other
[.] blocks with long footnotes are suddenly also long in the text area even if there is no text in them.
[.] blocks end up spread down the column with big spaces between them
To fix this, you have to FIRST, tap each block to bring it back to normal size. THEN hit ARRANGE to get rid of the spaces! WHAT?!
These are very BASIC errors that shouldn't happen ! The whole point of the program is ORGANISABLE BLOCKS. If the blocks get messed up just doing the smallest things, it's a fail !
    .
~ When you hit show/hide footnotes, they wont actually show anything - EVEN IF AUTO-SIZE is set to automatically show ALL the text in the block. Once again, you have to hit this button MANUALLY to get it to show the text.
    .
  • It creates new blocks in odd places. Even if you tap/double-tap on a column, it wont create the block in that column. So you have to hunt for the block.
    .
  • Counterintuitive and difficult to use:
    For example:
~ you create a new block by 'CTRL-A' when surely you could just double-tap on canvass
~ to open the special editing window you have to go to ribbon. Why not just double tap?
    .
  • Developer not v responsive to feedback and bug-reports: just tells you 'if you don't like it, I'll refund you'. When you tell them a problem, they want all your personal purchase details before they'll do anything.
    .
  • Cant change width of blocks
    .
  • Last column of blocks in standard shows 80% of the width of the blocks...lol why not just change the spacing a tiny bit so it fits...small but an example of the low quality of much of this app
